STORIES OF THE BOULDER BATHOLITH

An Online Project
2013

STORIES OF THE BOULDER BATHOLITH are nine short animations and video docs that tell stories of the region between Butte and Helena, Montana.  The stories are about the people who inhabit this place and the complexity of their environs.  Hundreds of millions of dollars from copper, silver, gold, zinc, lead, and other metals have been mined from the batholith.  The Elkhorn Mountains, a vast, volcanic, forested range, occupies the area.  Like many forests in the Rocky Mountain West, pine beetle infestation has killed a high percentage of its trees.  These dead standing forests have provided the fuel load for the monster fires that have burned in this region during the 21st century.

The videos can be watched in any order.
